This student succeeded a medium proficiency, although at first glance it seems like they had gone above and beyond with their explanation. Their explanation was extremely good explaining how slinkys were used as models for earthquake waves, which they also explained the different motions necessary to correctly model P and S waves with a slinky. Although the student only included 2 aspects of the criteria in their explanation, this student in particular has an IEP stating that extra time may be granted if needed. The student did not have enough time to complete both experiments, and instead was allowed to only complete the experiment involving the slinky and tape. They received a 3 rather than a 4 only because they did not explain their results, which were however explained verbally during the experiment. This was also taken into consideration as this was the only grade for this experiment which the student had expressed great success at. Since this assignment which was one of the first completed since I've been in the class, I've worked with this student on completing tasks both thoroughly and in a timely manner, which has benefitted them both on these tasks and tests which require applying things learned from these tasks.
